A new season is approaching rapidly (not that Ashley seems too fussed), which for us means planning more displays. We’re going simple for the first match of the season, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it won’t be massive. We’re asking fans to get behind a Black and White Day. Bring your scarves, we’ll get all our wavers, big and small, out. Every. Single. One of them. A sea of flags and scarves filling the Gallowgate to mark the new season.
We’ve done these days before, but over the last two seasons as a group we have added countless new flags to our collection, so we want this to be the most spectacular one yet. In terms of help from you, that means a few things. Firstly, bring your black and white scarves, get them twirling. Not got a scarf yet? Got one but fancy a new one? We can help out with some fetching items in the shop. All money, of course, goes back in to displays.
Secondly, we are looking to replenish our stock of the basic black and white wavers – they are looking a bit battered after two seasons. If you’d like to chip in, you can donate directly to us here. We’ve been blown away by the generosity of our fellow fans so far and we are all too aware that with outrageous season ticket and shirt price increases that finances can be a bit thin right now. For our part, we’re looking to make this all more sustainable as a group. Hopefully the black and white wavers we purchase now, and perhaps a new Rafa flag (he’s been battered around a bit too, and no that isn’t a comment on the clubs owners…) will last us for another couple of seasons. As ever, with any contribution we will keep doing what we can to do the best fans in the world proud.
Thirdly, helping out on the day. Grab a flag and get it waving. We’re hoping to buy some new slightly smaller flags too that will be better for kids, so let us know if you’re after one of those and we’ll do what we can to arrange that. If you’d like to help out more, please do drop us an email or contact us on facebook or twitter. We’re always keen for new faces to get involved in the group.
Last, but by no means least, we’re looking forward to getting back to St James’ Park and signing until our throats give in. If you’d like to join the Block V singing section in the Gallowgate have a look at how you can do that here or contact the club box office. There’s currently still some limited availability in Block V and neighbouring Block U, we look forward to seeing you there come August.
The World Cup has been mint, but now let’s get back to the real stuff, HOWAY THE LADS!
