NUFC v Liverpool (30 April 2022)

NUFC v Arsenal (16 May 2022)
May 16, 2022As a first for Wor Flags, most of what was at St James Park for the Liverpool Men’s game the previous day was still there, so this game was slightly different. Normally, flags are damaged or otherwise unusable through normal wear and tear, so are removed from service before a game. We tried to do this before the Alnwick game so flags could be used. A quick rush around once the gates opened was in order, getting flags distributed where fans were once the gates were opened. We spread a lot of the larger wavers around the front of the East Stand, and some taken to the centre of the Leazes Stand. We did, however, have a special ‘Howay the Lasses’ banner on the Gallowgate middle tier, to recognise the importance of this event.
Some of our volunteers were spreading themselves around the open stands encouraging supporters to pick up and wave a flag or to generally get involved. A great community spirit was there on the day, many people had a go with a large flag and that was exciting to see (they aren’t as hard/big/heavy as they seem…
Lots of waving before the game, throughout the stadium, lots when each goal was scored, and load at the end, as the ladies did a lap of honour, which was great to see, and took in autographs from may who knew the lasses personally through their day jobs.
More of the same, please…
